BBC TV star ploughs through red lights and into a pensioner

The star of reality TV series Scrappers has been jailed after injuring a elderly driver in a high-speed crash.

Lewis O'Boyle was sentenced to 27 months in prison after Bolton Crown Court heard how he took cocaine and ploughed through a red light at 60mph and struck 79-year-old James Crowder's Vauxhall Astra.

As reported in The Bolton News, O'Boyle's manager Terry Walker, who had taken him under his wing at the Metro Salvage scrapyard, said the defendant had let him down as well as his colleagues, family and friends.

O'Boyle pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while banned, failing to stop after an accident and having no insurance.
