TV’s Shane Richie is reportedly suing Thomas Cook over his ‘holiday from Hell’ after enduring a string of unpleasant moments when in Mexico.

EastEnders actor Richie, 54, says his dream holiday intended for a bit of relaxing ended up turning into something of a nightmare.

According to the Sun, the star embarked on what he thought was a luxury holiday but things went downhill quickly, describing the Mexico five-star resort he visited as ‘f*cking horrendous’.

‘It was a holiday from hell. It cost thousands. It was supposed to be a holiday of a lifetime,’ he said.

‘I was taking my in-laws for 17 nights. It was my worst nightmare. It was f*cking horrendous. I got spanked by them,’ he fumed, after recalling the service they experienced and how he and his family were treated.

Shane claims the constant and noisy partying in and around the pool area made relaxing there unbearable.

‘At just 10.30am in the morning we were all sat by the luxury pool and there was a DJ on with drum and bass. They didn’t mention that in the programme when we were booking it. Loads of things happened.’

A Thomas Cook source suggested that Richie complained about a number of other things, including fans pestering him for photos and when he was forced to queue for his eggs in the morning buffet.

‘Shane complained about holidaymakers taking pictures of him, having to get up at 5.30am to put towels on sunbeds, loud music by the pool and queuing to get eggs in the morning,’ claimed the insider.

‘Thomas Cook did an awful lot for his family when they were in the resort, including about £10,000 worth of upgrades which was almost the cost of the holiday.’

An official comment from the holiday company followed his remarks, insisting that they did all they could to make his holiday a pleasant one.

‘We always want our customers to enjoy their holidays so we’re disappointed Mr Richie didn’t like the hotel he asked us to book for him,” the rep said, confirming Thomas Cook has refused his request for a refund.,’ a spokesperson said.

‘We did everything we could to help in resort, including complementary upgrades and an offer to move to the premium hotel next door. Given the circumstances we can’t justify a full refund so sadly this has become a legal issue.’
