In Pictures: Zoo poo fuels new tropical house

Visitors to Marwell Zoo's new Tropical House can expect to see a sloth, pygmy marmosets, tortoises, and a giant aquarium with 2,500 fish.

Operators of the Hampshire attraction said 700 tonnes of animal waste - dung, soiled bedding and leftover hay - will help power the exhibit.

A wood chip boiler will be supplemented by one capable of burning straw-based animal manure later this year, helping the zoo achieve its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2020.
