M5 isn't moving this morning. Been stuck in traffic for well over an hour and no end in sight. Despite that, thoughts are with the person who passed away in the crash. #somersetpic.twitter.com/yK93iMcvAc

A force spokesman said: "We expect the motorway to be closed for a significant amount of time so would urge motorists to avoid the area and make sure they follow diversions put in place by Highways England.
If you're caught within the closure in either direction on #M5 between J26 and J25, traffic is in the process of being turned from the rear of the queue. Carriageway remains closed and is not expected to re-open until much later today.
