Warm welcome to chilly Norway for William and Kate

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in a snow-covered Norway on the second leg of their Nordic tour.

William and Kate's private chartered plane landed at an airforce base near Oslo.

While the runway had been cleared, the surrounding area was carpeted in a deep layer of snow that had fallen overnight.

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit braved the wintry conditions to greet the royal couple.

Later, William will meet Norway's entrepreneurs of tomorrow at an event in the capital.

He will celebrate the next generation of businessmen and women based at MESH, a co-working space in Oslo.

Four innovative Norwegian start-ups will be highlighted during his visit - reMarkable, Play Magnus, No Isolation and Motitech - which all work towards tackling issues such as the environment and mental health and well-being in new and engaging ways.

The duke will also meet Magnus Carlsen, Norway's chess world champion and Grandmaster, and take part in an interactive game of Kahoot!

William and Kate have spent the past two days visiting the Swedish capital, Stockholm, and before flying to Norway received a short briefing on Sweden's armed forces.

But a trip to an airbase to see some of the fighter jets used by the country's military was cancelled because of heavy snow.

The couple briefly said goodbye to their Swedish hosts on the runway with Kate, who is around six months pregnant, keeping warm in a Catherine Walker coat and dress by Seraphine.
