Four arrested over Derby hit-and-run that left teenager seriously hurt

Four people have been arrested after a 19-year-old man suffered serious life-changing injuries when he was knocked down in a hit-and-run collision.

Derbyshire Police released CCTV footage of the moment he was hurled into the air as he walked across Normanton Road, Derby, and then smashed into the ground and slid for a considerable distance.

Two men aged 20, a 20-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man have now been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police still hope to find the car, which is believed to be a dark-coloured Audi A3, which did not stop after the crash on November 5 at about 7.30pm.

The teenager did not have a chance to get out of the way of the car which was travelling at speed, police said.

The victim is now in a wheelchair, unable to walk and had to spend many weeks in hospital. He faces a battle for recovery and rehabilitation.

Horrified witnesses rushed to try and help the victim, whose body was left lying on a pavement in front of a shop.

The force have said they would like to hear from anyone who has information relating to the car's location, or knows of one with damage to the front bumper, bonnet and windscreen, sustained in early November.
