Best jobs for pay and satisfaction no longer include tech-based posts, says study

Tech-based jobs have fallen out of a list of the best positions for pay and levels of satisfaction for the first time, according to new research.

A study by jobs site Glassdoor found that managerial jobs in marketing, finance and human resources featured in the top 10.

Marketing manager was top of the league, with median pay of £42,000, high levels of job satisfaction and plenty of vacancies, with similar findings for operations managers.

Glassdoor said it was the first time a tech-based job had not featured in the top 10.

The highest pay levels were said to be for a "solutions architect" at £70,000, finance manager (£60,900) and "engagement manager" (£55,000).

Dr Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor's chief economist, said: "Although tech jobs don't make the top 10 this year, jobs in finance and other more highly skilled traditional roles remain prominent in the UK.

"However, this year will see AI (artificial intelligence) and job automation impact every facet of the UK workforce in some way, and two industries that are ripe for considerable changes in 2018 are human resources and finance.

"Revolutionary new AI tools are complementing people's skills in both these industries, which could upend many established and easy-to-automate roles that we see in this list."
