Five must-see TV highlights for the week ahead

January nights are perfect for getting comfy on the sofa and enjoying some top TV. Here's our pick of this week's television.


1. Art, Passion & Power: The Story of the Royal Collection - Tuesday 16th January at 8pm on BBC Four

As part of the BBC's royalty season, this fascinating new series sees historian Andrew Graham-Dixon explore the history of the Royal Collection, one of the largest and most important art collections in the world, built up over 500 years. In this first episode, Andrew marvels at the works acquired by the great founders of the modern Royal Collection - Henry VIII and Charles I and the items they acquired.

2. Big Cats - Thursday 18th January at 8pm on BBC Two

This week the BBC wildlife camera team bring us footage of the planet's most mysterious cats. The tiny black-footed cat in South Africa can lay claim to the title of being the world's deadliest feline, while in Mongolia the rarely seen Pallas cat is filmed with her kittens.

3. Hunted - Thursday 18th January at 9pm on Channel 4

The third series of this high-octane reality show began last week with nine 'fugitives' trying to evade the 'hunters' for 25 days in order to win £100k. Watching the 30-strong team of ex-military and police personnel use sniffer dogs, drones and helicopters to track down the contestants makes for a gripping hour's entertainment.

4. Southampton v Tottenham - Sunday 21 January from 3.30pm on Sky Sports Premier League

Saints host Tottenham at St Mary's aiming to avenge the 5-2 defeat they suffered when the sides last met.
