Thieves steal special laptop from disabled girl

The dad of a severely disabled teen has begged callous burglars to return his daughter's 'voice' - after they stole a laptop that is her only way of communicating.

Desperate Mark Williams and his daughter Celyn, 13, were victims of the devastating break-in while they slept in the early hours of Monday.

The burglars got in via a cat flap and ransacked the house - stealing the special Eye Gaze computer that is vital to disabled Celyn's communication.

Speaking to the Bristol Post, Mr Williams said: "Eye Gaze is a computer which can tell where she's looking on the screen. It's going to take quite a long time to replace and it's going to be very expensive. It has got specialised software on it that's unique to her.

"Without it the only thing she can do is open her mouth wide to indicate 'yes'. It's the only way she can communicate with the world.

"This is her voice. The thieves stole that. I'm sure they didn't know what it was. It was in a nice black case."

He is now appealing to the thieves to return the computer as the customised software that is vital to Celyn is worth around £8,000 but the computer is worthless second hand. See more on the story in the video above.
