Chubby raccoon trapped in sewer grate

Like humans, it seems that animals seem to have those days when things just don't seem to go right.

This raccoon was having one of those days recently, but thankfully help was nearby.

The City of Zion Illinois Police Department posted on Facebook about an officer who responded to a fairly urgent callout.

The chubby raccoon had clearly been eating a little too much and had got himself caught in the sewer grate on the side of the road.

After an unsuccessful effort to release the poor critter, the Facebook post noted: "The public works department was called to assist and the raccoon was eventually freed."
