Boy, 16, charged with murder over stabbing outside Parsons Green Tube station

A teenage boy has been charged with murder over a stabbing outside Parsons Green Tube station.

The 16-year-old also faces a charge of possession of a bladed article over the fatal attack.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Omid Saidy, 20, was killed outside the London station on Monday, where 30 people were injured in a terror attack last month.

Mr Saidy, from Fulham, was knifed after asking a drug dealer and another man to leave the area, Metropolitan Police said.

He was pronounced dead in Parsons Green Lane at 8.30pm.

An 18-year-old man, a friend of the victim who arrived on a moped, was also stabbed in the attack and is still in hospital with serious injuries, police said.

He has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

The teenage suspect was also injured during the attack and was arrested after being released from hospital.

A second suspect, described as a black male dressed in dark clothing, fled down Harbled Road in the direction of Fulham Court.

Officers have renewed their appeal for any witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, who is leading the investigation, said: "We continue to piece together a picture of how the sequence of events leading to and immediately following the murder took place.

"It is imperative that we speak to anyone who was in the area of Parsons Green station between 7pm and 8pm who may have witnessed the murder or the actions of the suspects immediately following the incident.

"In addition, I am keen to identify the black male who fled Parsons Green Lane immediately following the murder and am appealing for footage that members of the public may have recorded as events in the area took place.

"Although we have charged a male with Omid's murder, this is still a live and ongoing investigation.

"I urge anyone who can assist our investigation to come forward without delay."

"It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
