Mini harks back to the past with limited-run 1499 GT

British manufacturer Mini has launched a new special edition version of the Mini hatch. It's an old-school homage to the classic 1275 GT of 1969, and will be limited to just 1,499 units in total.

Mini says that the 1499 GT recalls the "entertaining drive, distinctive styling and low running costs of the 1969 original". It's based on the entry-level model Mini One, but has styling features lifted straight from the range-topping John Cooper Works model.
