Porsche announces British Legends special edition 911 Carrera 4 GTS
Porsche has lifted the lid on its 'British Legends' special editions of the 911 Carrera 4 GTS, designed to celebrate its success at Le Mans.
Having won 19 times at the famous French circuit, Porsche has developed these three special editions of its Carrera 4 GTS to celebrate its winning British drivers.
Derek Bell MBE, Richard Attwood and Nick Tandy helped to develop the cars so that they reflected the heritage associated with the original racing cars and legendary drivers.
Derek Bell has no less than five wins under his belt, making him the most successful Brit at the Le Mans 24 hour ever. He decided to create his 911 with inspiration from the 1982 winning car he drove. Finished in Sapphire Blue metallic paint, the exterior also features white, red and gold detailing.
Richard Attwood was also inspired by his very own racing car that took him to victory in 1970, a Porsche 917. His Carrera 4 is finished in Guards red with white livery.
In contrast, the winner of Le Mans in 2015, Nick Tandy, chose Carrera White Metallic paintwork to mimic the white of his 919 Hybrid racer. The Carrera 4 GTS version will also feature the same black and grey detailing found on the race car.
Each 911 Carrera 4 GTS British Legends Edition comes with a 3.0-litre flat-six engine that produces 444bhp. This mixed with Porsche's fantastic PDK double-clutch gearbox, which aims to offer seamless gear changes, allowing the car to travel from 0-60mph in a blistering 3.6 seconds..
Standard equipment includes LED headlights, a Union Jack motif on the B-pillar, Sport PASM chassis including dynamic control, 18-way electrically adjustable seats automatic lights, automatic wipers and Union Jack motifs throughout the cabin.
On sale now, prices start at £122,376 for the Guards Red edition and £123,210 for the Sapphire Blue and Carrera White models.
