Drink driver pulled over by police was almost eight times legal limit
A drink driver arrested on Sunday was found to be nearly eight times over the drink drive limit and the "highest ever seen" by the West Yorkshire Police officer who caught him.
The reading of 272 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath was nearly eight times over the legal drink drive limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
The reading was recorded on a roadside breathalyser test.
It happened on the weekend that marked 50 years since the drink-drive limit entered into UK law.
West Yorkshire Police Roads Police Unit posted a tweet describing the reading as the highest reading an officer had ever seen in his 12 years of service.
They added: "Thankfully this driver is now off your roads."
