Jamie Oliver transforms Land Rover Discovery into a mobile kitchen
Traditionally, cooking on the road is a bit of a tricky operation – beans on toast tends to be about as elaborate as things get on a camping stove. However, that would never have been enough for celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, and so he's teamed up with Jaguar Land Rover to create the ultimate mobile kitchen.
The vehicle chosen was the latest Land Rover Discovery, which is usually a seven-seater SUV. However, Jamie replaced the rear seats with an enormous pull-out kitchen worktop, incorporating everything you'd expect to see in a home kitchen – and some you've never seen before.
In fact, kitchen equipment is crammed everywhere you can imagine. As well as the gas hob and custom aluminium sink, the Discovery features a slow cooker behind the engine and a toaster under the centre armrest.
Push aside the Land Rover badge and you're able to slot a rotisserie into the front grille, while the wheels can churn butter or ice cream. There's even a herb garden and spice rack in the rear windows.
Engine oil goes in the front, but olive oil goes in the back – and can be accessed via a pull-down dispenser.
The Discovery will feature in a three-part series on Jamie Oliver's YouTube channel, the first part of which goes live at 6pm on Thursday, October 5.
