World's fastest elevator moves at 45mph

The CTF Financial Center in Guangzhou, China, is now home to the world's fastest elevator, which can reach speeds of up to 1,200 meters per minute, or about 45 miles per hour.

Japanese industrial giant Hitachi made the lift so fast that they had to design a special cabin to make sure that passenger ears wouldn't pop from the sudden changes in pressure.

The lift will open for service in 2018.
