London taxis of the future get showcased in Frankfurt

The London Taxi, which has been around seemingly forever, is entering the future with electric power.

Showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the battery-powered vehicles was painted in a pale beige, a traditional colour for German taxis.

New pollution laws mean all taxis in London must produce zero emissions from January 1 2018 — which is exactly what the electrified cab does.

The London Electric Taxi Company has its eyes set globally, with plans to sell the car all around starting next year.

Want to take a longer journey, though? Fear not as all of the cabs come with a range extender, allowing the occasional long-distance trip to be made.
