Six injured after SUV ploughs into launderette

Six people were injured – three of them seriously - after an SUV smashed through the front of a launderette in New York.

The 74-year-old driver of the white Ford Escape mistakenly pressed the accelerator while reversing out of a car park space in Staten Island, New York City. The SUV can be seen powering through the front of Page Laundromat, smashing the glass and sending people fleeing to the side to get away from the vehicle.

The incident happened on Sunday, and it is believed none of the people hurt, which included the driver, suffered life-threatening injuries.

The footage was captured on CCTV cameras inside and outside the launderette.

Owner Ben Koo told NBC4 the driver caused $20,000 of damage to the launderette, which is still closed after the crash.
