Boy, 14, in life-threatening condition after pair shot in east London

A 14-year-old boy is fighting for his life and a second teenager is seriously injured after they were shot in east London.

Police are investigating after the two victims were found with gunshot wounds on Moore Walk in Forest Gate at 3.10pm on Monday.

London Ambulance Service attended the scene and both boys were rushed to an east London hospital.

The 14-year-old's injuries are being treated as life-threatening, while the 17-year-old has suffered possible life-changing injuries, a Met Police spokesman said.

Chief Superintendent Ade Adelekan, head of policing in the London Borough of Newham, said: "Sadly today two young men have been shot on our streets, one of whom remains critically ill in hospital.

"We are only too well aware that this incident comes after a number of shootings... that are blighting our communities and seriously injuring our young men."

"I want the community of Newham to help us tackle this - if you have any information about people carrying or supplying firearms please let us know and we will take action."

No arrests have been made and anyone with any information is asked to call police in Newham on 101.

There has been a surge in gun crime in the capital in the last year.

Met Police figures published in April revealed a 42% spike in gun offences - up to 2,544 compared to 1,793 between April 2015 and 2016.
