Man dies after being gunned down outside Essex filling station

A man has died after being shot in the chest outside a filling station.

The victim and another man, both aged in their 20s, were outside the BP garage near the Army and Navy roundabout in Chelmsford when a blue Ford Fiesta pulled up in the early hours of Saturday, Essex Police said.

The man was shot by an occupant of the car, which drove off, and he was taken to hospital where he died.

Police said the emergency services were called at about 2.10am to Baddow Road.

The road has been closed for forensic examination work.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to call 101.
