Alien-looking prehistoric creature lived in depths of ocean

There is no shortage of fascinating creatures living in the ocean's depths, and the recent discovery of a prehistoric predator equipped with a rather remarkable hunting tool shows that has been true for some time.

The animal is described as roughly four inches long and a marine predator that once patrolled the ocean floor.

It is thought to have grabbed its prey with 50 spines that it deployed from its head.

The predatory swimmer is also known as an 'aeroworm'.

The specimens that led to the discovery were found in British Columbia.
