Porsche 911 GT2 has auction estimate of $1,000,000
One of 194 Porsche 911 '993' GT2s going up for sale at the RM Sotheby's Monterey auction on August 18 and 19, with a lower estimate in excess of $1,000,000.
Described as 'the ultimate street-legal 993', this 1995 version comes with only 7,127 miles on the clock and an impressive output of 430bhp from the twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre engine.
Due to four-wheel-drive being banned from GT racing series in the mid '90s, Porsche had to remodel the Turbo from an all-wheel to a two-wheel-drive model for homologation purposes, and the GT2 is the result.
That doesn't stop the GT2 getting from 0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds, from 0-100mph in 8.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 187mph.
Coming without rear seats, power-adjust controls to the front seats and the heavy all-wheel-drive system – as well as a raft of other features – the GT2 was more than 220kg lighter than the standard 993 Turbo. This version still comes with factory air conditioning and power windows.
This example is in excellent condition, coming with the full complement of service receipts and official documents. Decked out in white with black leather interior trim and bright blue detailing, this GT2 has been fitted with a radio and a Clubsport steering wheel by one of its previous owners. Also coming with all the original tools and accessories, this lot is in prime condition.
With the auction coming later this month, RM Sotheby's has placed a lower estimate of $1,100,000 (£831,490) on the lot as they expect a large amount of interest for this 911 GT2.
