Authorities scrambled to keep a dozen other homes safe on Friday.
According to WFLA, the hole is 50 feet deep and 225 feet in diameter.
"The hole itself appears to now be dormant," said Kevin Kuthrie, Assistant County Administrator on Friday night. "We have not had any significant movement in the last hour and a half."
In a news conference, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said: "I ask that everybody out there please pray for the people in this community right now because as they go to bed tonight, I don't know if they will be able to sleep."
ABC News reports that the homes that were swallowed were plagues by sinkholes in the past.
No injuries were reported.
Boating at a nearby lake was suspended and those living between the sinkhole and the lake were evacuated.
