Teenage Formula 4 racing driver narrowly avoids horrifying crash

This is the frightening moment Sophia Floersch narrowly avoided a crash with a recovery SUV that had driven on to the Oschersleben racing circuit in Germany, after she failed to notice a red flag.

Floersch, 16, was racing her Formula 4 car at high speed when an incident was yellow-flagged on the circuit.

It was then red-flagged, but despite slowing down slightly Floeresch failed to spot the red and ended up leaving the track to avoid a high-speed smash with a recovery SUV.

The teenager has now been fined more than €5,000 by Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club, who run the racing series. However, this is not for her driving, but is in fact for uploading the video without permission – a video that quickly went viral, having been shared and viewed thousands of times over.
