Good Samaritan stops drunk motorist and confiscates his keys

A Good Samaritan has possibly saved a life after stopping a drunk driver and confiscating his keys.

When he saw a car swerving across several lanes at 70mph, the Samaritan realised the driver must have been drunk.

Video footage taken by the man shows him catching up to the drunken motorist at a set of traffic lights and telling him to pull over at the side of the road.

Amazingly, the intoxicated man does as he is told, stopping his car at the next lay-by, proceeding to turn off his engine and hand his keys over.

The Good Samaritan tells the inebriated driver that he should walk home or call for a lift, saying he'll return later in the day and leave the keys on top of the car's front left-hand-side wheel.

The drunk man should count himself lucky, as driving under the influence of alcohol can carry a hefty prison sentence of up to 20 years in the United States.
