TVR to unveil new model at Goodwood Revival
Legendary British manufacturer TVR is launching its first new car for over a decade at the Goodwood Revival festival this September.
The new lightweight sports car will be the first to be launched at the historical motorsport event, which takes place from September 8 to 10.
Designed and built in partnership with Gordon Murray Design, the new model – which is yet to be named – will be fitted with a 5.0-litre Cosworth V8 engine and will weigh 1200kg. This helps to provide a 0-60mph time of less than four seconds and a top speed of about 200mph thanks to a reported power-to-weight ratio of 400bhp per tonne.
It will be the centrepiece of a special TVR display in the Earls Court building at the Sussex-based event, and the owner of the Goodwood estate and president of the British Automobile Racing Club Lord March said: "It is entirely fitting that TVR, as such an iconic British marque, should unveil what will be a very exciting entrant to the global sports car market at the Revival this year and I very much look forward to welcoming them to Goodwood in September."
Les Edgar, chairman of TVR, said: "We are incredibly excited to be unveiling the new car at the Goodwood Revival.
"It's the first time a global launch of a new car has occurred at the event, and it seems an entirely appropriate place for us to do it, with the marque's motorsport heritage and an enthusiastic audience of dedicated car fans – and in our 70th anniversary year."
It is reported the vehicle costs close to £90,000 and 500 Launch Edition models will be made.
