£19m lottery winner comes forward just in time

If you've bought a lottery ticket it's always worth checking if you've won, even if the odds are low.

One individual certainly learned this lesson recently.

According to a press release from the New York Lottery, a mysterious missing millionaire who bought the $24.1 million (£18.8m) lotto ticket in Manhattan, USA, has been found.

The releases states: "The lucky individual, who will be formally announced in the near future, came to the Lottery's Beaver Street Customer Service Center in Lower Manhattan on May 23 to claim the prize – two days before the winning ticket from the May 25, 2016 Lotto drawing was set to expire. "

Gweneth Dean, Director of the Commission's Division of the Lottery, said: "We look forward to introducing this multimillionaire who came forward in the nick of time."

The lucky winner was prompted to look for the ticket after seeing news coverage on the win - it was certainly worthwhile!
