Want to make like a Middleton? Seems you're not the only one - as searches for Pippa's honeymoon destination have risen by a third.

The 'Middleton Effect' may have been more associated with Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, in the past – but it now extends to her sister Pippa, according to new data from travel search engine Kayak.co.uk.

The figures reveal that demand for travel searches to French Polynesia increased by over a third (up 36%) on the day it was revealed as the destination for Pippa Middleton's honeymoon.

Pippa, and new husband James Matthews, will be honeymooning on exclusive island Tetiaroa – which was formerly owned by silver screen legend Marlon Brando.

However, French Polynesia is a premium destination for any traveller, making the surge in demand even more surprising.

Figures from Kayak.co.uk show that the average price of a five-star hotel in French Polynesia – a collection of 100 islands in the South Pacific – is an eye-watering £724 a night, whilst a business class flight will leave travellers on average £4,337 lighter.

However, you don't quite have to be a hedge fund billionaire – like Pippa's new husband – to afford it.

The average cost for an economy class flight comes in at £1,319 whilst three-star hotels cost on average £145, rising to £255 a night for a four-star.

Bora Bora is one of the most popular destination in French Polynesia, being Tahiti's most famous island, and is particularly perfect for honeymooners.

It's possibly the most celebrated island in the South Pacific and it's not hard to see why - stretches of long white sands, clear azure seas and overwater bungalows abound.
