The Vamps 'aiming high' with bid for Taylor Swift collaboration

The Vamps have said Taylor Swift inspired them to become musicians but it would be "aiming high" to collaborate with her.

The boy band also said they would love to work with British singer Ed Sheeran.

The band's guitarist James McVey said during a live Twitter Q&A with the Press Association that the US pop star motivated him to get into the music industry.

The foursome - McVey, Brad Simpson, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans - were speaking as they kicked off their Middle Of The Night Tour.

Answering a fan's question about their new album, Simpson said: "We've got a load of collaborations on our upcoming album, which is very exciting, and we don't want to give anything away. But we'd love to collaborate with Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift... aiming high!"

McVey also cited Sheffield rock band Arctic Monkeys as an inspiration.

Following performances in Sheffield and Glasgow, the band will play in Manchester, Liverpool and Ball and Simpson's home city of Birmingham.

The pop group, who rose to fame after uploading their performances on YouTube, will also be joining X Factor winners Little Mix on their European tour at the end of May.
