Alert as man absconds from Buckinghamshire prison

Police are hunting a man convicted of drugs offences who is on the run from prison.

James Delahoyde absconded from HMP Springhill in Buckinghamshire on Friday night.

He was serving a sentence for drugs offences after he was reportedly caught slumped in the driver's seat of a car in Slough two years ago with heroin, crack cocaine and a knife in the vehicle.

The 40-year-old was last seen at the prison at 8.15pm on Friday, Thames Valley Police said.

He is described as white, of slim build and around 6ft tall with receding brown hair and brown eyes.

It is thought he was wearing dark trousers and a dark long-sleeved top when he disappeared.

Detective Inspector Simone Marples said: "James has links to Slough, but we would also ask residents in Buckinghamshire to be vigilant and please keep an eye out for him.

"We would ask that you do not approach James - instead, contact police as soon as possible."

Police are appealing for anyone with information over Delahoyde's whereabouts to dial 999, call officers on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
