Theresa May helps direct runners at annual Good Friday Maidenhead race

Theresa May swapped running the country for directing country runners as a marshal at the annual Good Friday Maidenhead 10-mile race.

The Prime Minister, dressed in a fluorescent yellow bib and wearing sturdy hiking boots, pointed joggers the right way as several stopped for a swift selfie.

Linda McQuaid, who is part of the Watford Joggers group, told the Press Association: "It was a really nice thing, and I thought to myself, 'you're not likely to see Donald Trump do that, are you?'"

Regular runners of the annual run, which is held in her constituency, said Mrs May often rolls her sleeves up and helps out.

In one image, the Conservative leader can be seen laughing as she directs a participant dressed in a cumbersome rhino costume.

NHS director Mrs McQuaid added: "We noticed her near the tea tent and thought we might as well get a picture.

"She was really charming and she has actually done this several times before, I think she's quite a good constituency MP.

"It was a lovely, cool jogging day and it was really nice to see her doing something normal for a change!"
