A hotel chain in Sweden is offering couples a refund if they get divorced within a year of their stay.

Countryside Hotels says: "The guests get their money back if they get divorced."

Speaking to The Local, the hotel chain's marketing officer Anna Madsen said: "We have welcomed couples to our hotels and mansions around Sweden and seen how beneficial it can be to get away for a while and devote time to each other.

"We have also desired to spread this information to more people and decided to take a radical approach and hope it will make more people understand how important it is to invest in your relationship in time."

But there are some conditions attached to the offer. Couples must already be married, stay in the same room and reference the relationship guarantee when booking.

They will also need to submit court documents as evidence when applying for the divorce refund.

Petra Fagrell Jansson, who runs one of the hotels, says she isn't worried about it becoming an expensive offer.

She told NWT that a trip could be exactly what couples need to resolve their marital troubles.

"Everyone needs a bit more time for their relationships and a little break from everyday life," she says.
