Is this why millennials aren't buying lottery tickets?

Millennials apparently aren't buying lottery tickets, and it has operators concerned.

Could it be because they're making less than their parents, even though they're reportedly the most-educated generation?

Overall, ticket sales were up 9% year-to-year in 2016 - but only one-third of 18 to 29-year-olds surveyed by Gallup said they'd played the lotto over the past year.

Charles McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery gave Reuters his explanation for the trend: "Most millennials don't want to wait two days to see if they won the Powerball.

"They consume entertainment content just much faster than consumers did 20 years ago."

Yeah, or the millenials have realised their parents have been playing the lottery since before they were born and keep coming up empty.

Virginia in the USA is trying to entice younger people by allowing debit purchases — and several states allow some online lottery sales.

Which is great for millennials trying looking for a little rush.
