The six bedroom home, which was renovated in 2014, is on the market for £10.3million (11.9 million euros).

The villa, which is nestled close to the St Tropez and Pampelonne beaches, has a big swimming pool, a gym and sea views.

On the ground floor there is an entrance, living room, dining room, kitchen and three bedrooms with three bathrooms.

The first floor boasts a master bedroom with walk-in closet and bathroom and stunning views across the water.

Two further guest bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms sit on the garden level, which also has a caretaker's apartment.

The large, rectangular pool is accessed via a curving two-way stone staircase.

There is a state of the art sound system but, sadly, a recording studio put in by George was taken out after he sold it.

George shot to fame in 1981 as one half of Wham, with Andrew Ridgely, and went on to sell more than 100 million records worldwide.

He bought the house in the first flush of success and he affectionately dubbed it "247, chez Nobby" after his London address and one of his childhood nicknames.

Anna Fritsche, from the Monaco office of estate agency John Taylor which is selling the property, said: "What makes the house special and desirable to potential buyers is its location as it is close to the city of Saint-Tropez and close to the Pampelonne beaches.

"It has an exceptional sea view and is an authentic Provencal 'bastide' (manor house) which was completely refurbished in 2014 by respecting its initial architecture. Also, the landscaped park is breathtaking.

"We know that George Michael owned this property in the 1980s."
