British man shot dead in Porsche at Thailand beach resort

A British man has been shot dead in his Porsche in Thailand.

Tony Kenway, 39, from Southampton, was killed as he got in his car in the beach resort of Pattaya.

Mr Kenway, who was living in Bangkok and was married, had set up a website design business in Thailand.

The shooting happened at the Sanit Sport Club, who wrote a message of condolence on Facebook that read: "We are very sad to announce the death of Tony Kenway who lost his life this morning. We would like to offer Tony's family and friends our deepest sympathy and condolences at this difficult time. RIP Tony."

According to the Bangkok Post, witnesses told police that the gunman, described as a "chubby man wearing a white T-shirt and black jacket", opened Mr Kenway's car door and shot him once in the head before riding off on a motorbike.

The Telegraph reports that Police Colonel Jirawut Tantasri said: "There was a motorbike waiting and the killer escaped with another person riding it. There are two people we are looking for.

"We believe there was a conflict of interest in a business that Mr Kenway had been involved in. We know nothing more than that."

Staff at the Sanit Sport Club, where Tony had been working out before he was shot, described him as a "lovely man" who was "always happy".

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) spokeswoman told the BBC: "We are in contact with the family of a British man following his death in Pattaya, Thailand. Our sympathies are with them at this difficult time. We are in touch with the local police."
