So we've been trawling the TripAdvisor reviews about the American burger chain's branches in Cardiff and here we share the most amusing with you.

While some McDonald's customers were less impressed - often for good reason - others' takes on the fast food chain's output was positively glowing...

Burger fan Izzy1367 visited the Culverhouse Cross drive-thru. "Went through the drive through early this week. There was now queue and I ordered a large nuggets meal. Payment was taken very easily due to McDonald's using contactless card machines. The nuggets were crispy and pipping hot, the chips were again hot, as well as being the right colour (ie. perfectly cooked) with the right amount of salt on and the right amount in the container (not half full like usual). Furthermore, the drink was completely full - so full it even split a bit! Only issue was it a was a regular not Diet Coke but that doesn't really matter! Amazing meal for cheap price. Would go again."

TripAdvisor user and daily McDonald's visitor, Jill O'Brien, also visited the Culverhouse Cross outlet, but wasn't so impressed. "We go up McDonald's every night went there this evening. Wrong order, burger and chips missing once again.

"Julie G's Culverhouse experience is the only one for her and her husband: "Lovely staff, always busy so it must be good... and it is. Lovely McFlurry. Hubby travels to get his cheeseburger here because he says it's the best."

TripAdvisor user cn felt the need to warn others about children using computers at 2am: "Clean, empty but friendly staff. Went in on the way back to the hotel. Nothing to comment really - it's a Maccy D's, same as the rest. But there were four children using the computers which was odd as it was gone 2 in the morning."

jep65 was turned off by some of McDonald's wall displays and only scored the Culverhouse eaterie one TripAdvisor bubble. "I popped in here for a quick bite during a working lunch hour, I was about to start my meal and noticed the most disgusting poster of the wall of a hand feeding a lady with dirty bitten fingernails. That was enough - I have such a weak stomach I had to leave. Whoever designed the decor must be blind. Dreadful"

According to Mike W Queen Street McDonald's has gone "bonkers". "They have a new system here a bit like Argos! You pay up front either at the till or on a machine in the restaurant, then you queue by the collection point until they call your number. About seven people cooking, one taking orders at the till and only one person, yes that's just one person, assembling the orders. It wasn't too long to wait but it does mean that you now have to queue twice to get a Big Mac. Don't think I'll go back."(He still gave it three bubbles out of TripAdvisor's maximum five, though).

ggma711 gave a five bubble review for Tongwynlais McDonald's - but there was no gushing. "McDonald's is pretty much the same worldwide, and this McDonald's was the same as what we have experienced in the past."

And user Bnaicker had a similar stance at the Gabalfa drive-thru. "It's Mac D's - nothing exciting or out of the unusual. Merely your fast food - staff working because they get paid and food served because you pay!"

oliverrsmith gave Tongwynlais McDonald's full marks. "There are few things on this planet as marvelous as the McDonald's production system. In nearly every country that has a McDonald's the burger is made and tastes identical. One can only stand in awe of such a process. The breakfast is a treat, especially that flat sausage thing that is reminiscent of spiced cardboard and yet keeps you coming back for more. I have no idea how eggs are ever made to be perfectly round nor where the yolk vanishes to. Great coffee for the price you pay here. Service at the drive through is friendly and swift."

christine658 will be returning to the Newport Road branch with her grandchildren. "This has to be the best McDonald's visited. Spotlessly clean and prompt service - from smiling, helpful staff.

"Thank you guys, we felt so welcome. iPads for kids and great music. Decor was colourful and welcoming. Good car parking - hope the road chaos outside does not put people off visiting you. We will be back."

harryjcross shared a meal with a pal at Newport Road. "I met Gareth here and we shared a Big Mac. It was very yummy - we also liked the toy in the Happy Meal."

Mallyfam states the obvious after her visit to the Newport Road branch. "Don't do it! It is fast and it is cheap, there is no denying that. I just think there is much better food around."

If, like Natalie K, you like your service with a smile, pop along to the Gabalfa drive-thru. "Love McDonald's and always have a nice greeting off the young man that's always on the first window of the drive through."
