Coys reveals exciting cars up for auction in January
International auctioneers Coys will be kicking off 2017 by hosting two auctions simultaneously at the Autosport International and Interclassics shows on January 14.
The highlight of the sale will be a 1963 Citroën DS Cabriolet by Chapron, with the iconic convertible on offer from €200,000 (£171,000).
Over 50 classic cars will be auctioned, including some that have raced in grand prix, rallies and other racing competitions.
One such example in the Autosport sale is the Tecno K250 F4 that was raced in Formula 4 in 1964. This is one of 250 ever built and despite being in less than supreme condition, it is still a special lot from a bygone era of racing.
The Tecno team had famous drivers such as Clay Regazzoni and Ronnie Peterson on its books. This Ducati-powered example was found after being untouched in a barn for 20 years and incredibly lot has no reserve.
Also in the sale is a 1964 Marcos 1800 GT, which was a multiple race winner and this particular model was the first to win a championship for the small British manufacturer. It's had six owners from new and was out in Australia for almost 25 years before returning to the UK in 2010. Its asking price is from £40,000 to £50,000.
Another example is a 1980 Porsche 924, which was modified and used by Richard Hammond in Top Gear during a cheap car challenge. The distinctive modifications, such as the two-tone paint and flame decals, make this version stand out. This lot has no reserve for the sale.
In the Interclassics sale in the Dutch city of Maastricht, many other classic cars are on offer, including a 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL – which after being fully restored is on offer from €120,000 (roughly £102,500) – and a Pininfarina coach-built 1952 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT, which has a starting price of €140,000 (around £119,750).
Also on offer is a former 'Rijkspolite' Porsche 911 3.0 SC High Speed Pursuit vehicle, which is decked out in full elite Dutch police colours, and this unique lot is on sale from €85,000 (£72,700).
Both sales take place on January 14 at their respective shows.
