A tiny three-month-old kitten had to be rescued by firefighters after getting its head stuck in a toy car.

The cute cat somehow managed to get its head stuck in a hole at the back of the car.

Crews from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (OFRS) were called to a house in Stanford-in-the-Vale at around midday on Wednesday to rescue the moggy, reports the BBC.

Experts used a small saw to free the animal, which was reportedly quite distressed but was eventually rescued unharmed.

A spokesman for the OFRS said it served as warning not to "dive into your presents too early".

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, incident commander Graham Turner said: "It was completely stuck at the neck and the occupier had already attempted to cut the car in order to release it, but had been unable to get through the hard plastic.

"The fire crew managed to get enough space to slide a small saw blade down the hole by the kitten's neck and after some very delicate cutting managed to free it.

"The kitten was unharmed, but it serves as a lesson to all youngsters at this time of year, not to be tempted to dive in to your presents too early."
