Amazing 'jet capsule' is a futuristic James Bond style yacht
A new futuristic armoured yacht is the stuff of James Bond's dreams.
Costing from £145,000, the Italian-built Jet Capsule features a 740bhp diesel engine that powers a water jet. This jet can propel the bubble-shaped fiberglass capsule to a top speed of 35 knots – that's 40mph to us landlubbers.
At 23ft long and 13ft wide, the Capsule can carry as many as 12 passengers, and comes in a variety of guises. The model that features bulletproof windows is also equipped with a rooftop bunker, mini guns and an area to deploy divers, while the boat's cabin options include a small kitchen and bathroom, beds, mood lighting and a even a sundeck.
Meanwhile, the Jet Taxi is the simplest model, which boasts the largest passenger carrying capacity.
And bright days out on the water needn't be problematic, as the photochromic windows change their transparency in response to light intensity.
So far, five of the built-to-order models have been sold, two in Russia, two in China and another in Spain.
But Jet Capsule designer and co-founder, Pierpaolo Lazzarini, who was reportedly inspired by spaceships design, also hopes to see the boat in Britain's capital.
"We would love to see a Jet Capsule cruising down the River Thames in the near future," he told the Daily Mail.
"I wanted to create a boat that, despite being not very big, caught people's eye because of its style. When you arrive at the beach in the Jet Capsule everyone is standing up and taking pictures.
"It's such a compact yet luxurious yacht – small enough to minimise high maintenance costs but large enough to carry a group of friends, who can sleep aboard in comfort."
