How late can you leave your online orders?

Doing your Christmas shopping online means avoiding crowded stores and queues - as long as you order everything in time.

But the good news is that retailers have pushed their last Christmas delivery order dates back by up to a week compared with last year. While Liberty, for example, had a cut-off of December 16th in 2015, this year it's stretched that to December 21st.

Some are even offering same-day delivery right up to Christmas Eve, and others are promising that if items don't arrive in time for Christmas they'll be free. Many also offer the option of click-and-collect.

Catalogue debt rip off doubles the cost of Christmas

"There's quite a chasm between the best and worst delivery cut offs from the UK's biggest stores," says David Jinks, head of public relations for ParcelHero.

"Last year Argos stole the crown as the saviour of the most procrastinating shoppers: with its same day service still delivering on Christmas Eve. This year a number of other well-known retailers are also taking Christmas orders on the 24th, including Net-A-Porter."

And while House of Fraser's standard Christmas order deadline is the 18th, a whole week before Christmas, Next's standard cheapest order option is the 22nd – with the item coming free if it misses Christmas. ASOS goes one better, with standard delivery still available on the 23rd.

"Retailers are realising that delivery options are becoming as important as price for many shoppers this Christmas," says Jinks.
