Uma Thurman shows off new brunette look at launch of stunning Pirelli calendar
Uma Thurman looked virtually unrecognisable as she sported a cropped brunette do at the launch of the Pirelli calendar.
She is joined in the 2017 edition by a roll-call of fellow A-listers, including Dame Helen Mirren, Charlotte Rampling, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore and Jessica Chastain.
Oscar winners Lupita Nyong'o and Alicia Vikander also feature in the calendar alongside Rooney Mara, Lea Seydoux, Robin Wright and Zhang Ziyi.
The women were photographed by Peter Lindbergh with hardly any make-up for the calendar, entitled Emotional.
It marks a move away from the decades of risque shots featured in calendars of the past, with the photographer saying he is "not so fond of high heels and bikinis" and that he wanted to capture the nakedness in the soul of the calendar's stars, not their bodies.
"In a time when women are represented in the media (as) perfection and truth, I thought it was important to remind people that there is a different beauty," Lindbergh said.
Dame Helen, 71, noted that the calendar's move toward less sexualised images of women - begun in last year's edition by Annie Leibovitz - marks "undoubtedly a cultural shift, a real opening up and a big change".
Nicole, 49, added that the choice to forgo make-up and proudly look your age projects a good example of what natural beauty should be.
"(It shows that) the courage to be yourself is the epitome of confidence and power," she said, adding that "my husband (singer Keith Urban) totally prefers me without make-up on".
Uma said Lindbergh's vision was "beautiful ... wanting to free women from repressive and false standards".
