Japanese skating rink freezes fish into ice, causing outrage



An amusement park in Japan has apologised after encapsulating around 5,000 fish in ice as part of its ice rink.

Social media users have called the Ice Aquarium, part of Fukuoka Space World in Kitakyushu, "tasteless" and "a desecration of life".

The idea of a frozen ocean wonderland could probably have been achieved just as well with plastic models of sea creatures.

The theme park has now closed the controversial rink following a backlash on social media.
