Ed Balls has left Strictly and says it was the 'right time for me to go'
Ed Balls has declared that it was the "right time for me to go" following his elimination from Strictly Come Dancing.
After weeks of defying the judges' poor scores, the former shadow chancellor, 49, exited the BBC1 show after being in a dance-off with Judge Rinder.
He took to Twitter to make the declaration after losing out in the dance off:
All of the judges - Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood - chose to save Judge Rinder as they competed to stay in the competition.
Ed took to Twitter to thank his wife, Yvette Cooper, and Jeremy Vine for prompting him to do the show.
He also shared a short video of him practising the rumba, which he would have been doing next week had he stayed in the show.
He was full of praise and thanks for everyone working on the show:
And while the judges may have agreed, Ed's fans are not happy.
Some have even demanded a recount...
Ed's fans are devastated he's not in the show any more:
We're sure this isn't the last we've seen of Ed and his entertaining dancing ways.
