Great white shark attacks inflatable boat terrifying tourists

A group of tourists got the shock of a lifetime when a great white shark attacked their inflatable dingy off the coast of South Africa.

The 12ft female started savaging the side of the vessel, causing part of it to deflate.

The group were shocked when the huge animal emerged and sunk its teeth into their rubber boat.

The attack took place off the coast of Mossel Bay in South Africa. The tourists had been on a sightseeing expedition to watch seals when the shark turned up.

Rainer Schimpf, who organised the tour, believes the shark mistook the boat for a dead whale.

Meanwhile, a cage diver had a terrifying experience recently when he came face to face with a giant great white shark that viciously attacked his air supply.

Underwater photographer Chris Gillette caught the images of the 15ft-long, 1,500lbs predator biting his air line after he lured it to his viewing cage with bait.

The nerve-jangling moments were caught by the extreme underwater photographer from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, during a shoot off Guadalupe, Mexico.

An Australian fisherman, Dan Hoey, also had a scary experience as he was forced to use a broom to beat a great white shark away from his boat.

Dan said: "This big beast turned up and wouldn't leave us alone.

"The shark nearly took a chunk out of my Yamaha motors, leaving a few small dents and scratches."

He believes she was attracted by the bait he was using for fishing. Mt Hoey managed to move away to another area after a 20-minute battle with the shark.
