Angelina Jolie's ex Billy Bob Thornton: I'd love to do a movie with Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie's former husband Billy Bob Thornton has revealed that he would "love" to do a film with Brad Pitt.

He said that the pair's common roots would make them "great together" in a Southern heist thriller, similar to this year's western-style crime drama Hell Or High Water.

Speaking to Playboy magazine, the musician and actor, 61, said: "This might surprise people, but I'd love to do a movie with Brad Pitt. I think we'd be great together.

"We'd play a good couple of Southern guys. We grew up not far from each other, me in Arkansas, him in Missouri. We come from the same thing.

"Brad does a very good Southern character.

"There was a little movie this year called Hell Or High Water, about two brothers who are bank robbers in Texas.

"Brad and I could do our own version of a Southern heist thriller."

Thornton married Jolie, his fifth of sixth marriages, in 2000, but they divorced in 2003.

It was during the filming of Mr & Mrs Smith two years later that Jolie and Pitt reportedly became close.

The pair married in 2014, but Jolie filed for divorce from her third marriage in September this year.

Thornton is currently starring in Bad Santa 2, released this month, a sequel to the dark comedy Bad Santa in 2003.

He told the magazine that this instalment would be "more emotional" with more of "a human story than the original", but he promised Bad Santa fans it would still be "funny and definitely filthy".
