Porsche 911 GT3 RS Lego Technic model revealed
Porsche's revered 911 GT3 RS has been immortalised in miniature by Danish toymaker Lego.
The iconic sports car has debuted in the brand's Technic series, and the model is as true to its namesake as could be.
Measuring at 17cm high, 57cm long and 25cm wide, it is to a scale of 1:8 of the original – that's when you've managed to piece all 2,704 components together.
So detailed is this model that it even features Porsche's PDK dual-clutch transmission with four gears and shift paddles on the steering wheel.
Attention to detail continues with red axle springs, brake calipers, special low-profile tyres and original Porsche design rims.
Finished in lava orange, the Porsche comes complete with a miniature suitcase, which can be found in the hinged luggage compartment.
Uwe Wabra, a senior designer in the Lego Technic Team spent two years developing the model, a process that is detailed in a comprehensive booklet supplied with it.
Surprisingly, only ten per cent of the components are new – the others are all pre-existing Lego Technic elements.
"The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is an absolute highlight in our Lego Technic series," commented Wabra.
"The entire development phase was top secret. And the concept itself is exceptional: we weren't just interested in the finished model, but also in the experience of assembling it."
The Premium Collector's Edition 911 GT3 RS is available in the Porsche Online Shop, on Lego's own site and from retail outlets.
