James Arthur closing in on top spot with new album Back From The Edge
James Arthur is on course to cement his comeback by landing his first number one album.
The former X Factor winner's second studio record, Back From The Edge, is in the top spot at the mid-week stage of the charts.
According to the Official Charts Company, James's album is 6,000 combined chart sales ahead of its closest rival, The Courteeners' Mapping The Rendezvous.
Back From The Edge features the singer's chart-topping track Say You Won't Let Go, which spent three weeks at number one on the Official UK Singles Chart as well as topping the charts in Australia and Sweden.
If the record can hold onto its lead by Friday, it will be James's first number one album, as his eponymous debut peaked at number two in 2013.
Last week's number one, Elvis Presley's Wonder Of You has slipped to three, while Madness's 11th studio album Can't Touch Us Now is new at four.
Canadian singer Michael Buble's Nobody But Me rounds out the top five.
Meanwhile, in the singles chart, Little Mix look set to hang onto their reign at the summit for the third week with Shout Out To My Ex.
Their closest competition comes from James's Say You Won't Let Go, which is holding at two, and Clean Bandit's latest single Rockabye, which has jumped four places to number three.
The top five is completed by Weeknd Ft Daft Punk's Starboy and Closer by Chainsmokers.
Elsewhere, Halloween has seen two spooky songs surging up the Official Singles Chart - late King of Pop Michael Jackson's Thriller and the theme from the Ghostbusters movie.
Thriller has re-entered the chart at number 42, with downloads increasing over 165% since last week, and the Ghostbusters song is at 77.
