Beached whale rescued in China

A five-metre whale that became stranded on a beach in China has been rescued by locals.

Zhanjiang residents found the animal 20 metres from the shoreline in a state of dehydration.

Rescuers sprayed the whale with water and moved it back into the sea.

It took over an hour to help the distressed mammal into deeper water.

More than 50 people were involved in the effort, including officials from the fishery department.
