Brother and sister in hospital after toddler killed by car on pavement

A brother and sister remain in hospital after a car mounted a pavement and hit them in an accident which killed their toddler sister.

The three siblings were walking along the pavement of the A94 Forfar Road in Coupar Angus when two cars collided at the junction with Larghan Park at around 3.20pm on Thursday.

It is thought the vehicles then hit the children.

The two-year-old was killed in the crash, while her five-year-old brother and 17-year-old sister were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment to serious injuries.

The family of the victims have been informed and police are appealing for any witnesses.

A force spokesman said: ''The A94 Forfar Road will remain closed to allow collision investigation to be completed and allow inquiries into the full circumstances of the incident to continue.

''Anyone who has information that could assist officers with their inquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.''

Meanwhile, two people had to be freed by firefighters after a crash on the M90 near Rosyth.

The crash, in a layby off the motorway, left two men trapped in their cars and fire crews had to cut the roof off one of the vehicles to free the driver.

Both men were taken to Victoria Infirmary in Kirkcaldy for treatment after the collision at around 9.20pm on Thursday.
