Indeed, the state of Victoria in Australia has been lashed by storms in recent days.

There have been reports of very strong winds leaving 40,000 homes without power.

The Age reports that gales have pulled around 2,000 trees from the ground, throwing them across roads and into cars and homes.

One woman, aged in her 50s, was killed when extreme winds saw a tree crash into her property in an eastern suburb of Melbourne.

Pictures of the destruction have been shared on Instagram.
